Apologies for the nostalgia, but did you know there’s a thingy on PostSecret that now allows you to post a specific postcard directly to your blog? (Pinterest, twitter, facebook, and reddit too, but I don’t care so much about those) It’s pretty snazzy.

My sister’s got her graduation party tomorrow!
Oh and fun fact, Tom Lehrer, a mathematician-turned-musician-turned-mathematician-again, famous for being a fantastic satirical snarky bastard and inspiring Dan Radcliffe to sing about the elements, snuck his way around liquor restrictions while in the army by creating the jello shot in the 1950s.

“Wait, why are you taking a picture of an empty parking lot, Victor?”
Because that used to be a parking lot for a private school that was basically my childhood, that’s what. ಥ~ಥ

It’s not something I’d bawl my eyes out over, actually, but I like it better when my memories have a place that’s still around. Human memory isn’t always the most reliable thing, and when it’s one mind alone with the recollection, doubt can sometimes form over whether it actually happened, or if it was actually there. At least there’s still other people around for those “Remember when…” type moments, and can actually confirm that it was real. When I’m remembering something, it can be a bit sad, at least for me, to talk of it then have to remind myself, “Oh wait, that’s not here anymore.”

Legend of Korra
Episode 1 vs. Episode 7
Chekhov’s gun is a literary technique whereby an apparently irrelevant element is introduced early in the story whose significance becomes clear later in the narrative. The concept is named after Russian playwright Anton Chekhov, who mentioned several variants of the concept in letters.
One of Chekhov’s statements on this principle:
“If in the first act you have hung a pistol on the wall, then in the following one it should be fired. Otherwise don’t put it there.” From Gurlyand’s Reminiscences of A. P. Chekhov, in Teatr i iskusstvo 1904, No. 28, 11 July, p. 521.’

Fun fact: Hit my 1,111th post with that last one. If you’re not familiar with making a wish at 11:11, you’re living under a rock, under another rock, under a various assortment of heavy things. I’m not of the superstitious sort, on the contrary really, but sometimes I like to make the effort. I always make the same wish. No worries about anyone finding out. Either it comes true, or I’m stupid.
