Sooooo the interpipes are leaking.
NJIT’s got this newspaper called The Vector (Note the definition: vec·tor/ˈvektər/ Noun: A quantity having direction as well as magnitude; That’s a physics term - we are geeks.), there’s one article talking about memes. Right next to that, an anime review. I didn’t see this in their previous papers before, so this is all a surprise. Seeing something so familiar (Heck, I could’ve been writing these articles) in something so foreign is…well, kinda bizarre.

Fun Fact: Saw a lot of people reblogging this, with a good chunk apparently crying. I wouldn’t have expected everyone to catch on to this, so I figured this might be worth posting. If the pictures don’t speak enough for themselves, or you like reading, read on:
Don’t worry, the guy’s just fine. In an attempt to give a chuckle to his friends, and lighten the mood about the then-recent attacks, Peter Guzli, a Hungarian, took a regular picture of a Boeing 757, probably the one above (source), and photoshopped it into an old picture of his trip to the WTC on November 18, 1997 (One of the authentic pictures above from his trip shows this date). He sent an email to his friends, phrasing it like a police officer who was looking to identify this man. Guzli thought his friends weren’t dumb enough to not recognize him, or realize as a result that he was joking, but millions of forwarded e-mails said otherwise.
Soon enough, people did catch on to the inconsistencies (here’s what snopes.com had covered on it). Not only had his picture become a quick-spreading chain mail, but Guzli had become somewhat immortalized as one of internet’s early memes, Tourist Man, putting him into whatever random places they think up.
As of recent(specifically a week ago), probably having felt ashamed for doing it in the first place, Peter Guzli had finally issued a public apology for whatever problems his image might have caused, and just wishes that his Tourist Man meme would come to an end.
I’m at my friend’s house right now. Three screens. This is awesome. If I ever have the money and whatever would justify owning this, I’d want this in the future lol.

I was about to leave campus on Thursday, about to disconnect the internet from my iTouch. Saw this.
Lovely.
Edit: On the bright side, at least they’ve got protection. Zing!
My sister is introducing her to the Internet. My dad’s already well-acquainted.
Next to that, it looks like my sister was guilt-tripped into adding her on Facebook.
Now my mom just friend requested me, but I can’t deny it, because denying it would be mean.
What if she found out about Tumblr? If she did i-
….

i love xkcd.com. it took a bit of searching, but i was able to find tumblr just outside and above the core blogosphere, between the sea of opinions and buzzword bay. you’d have to click through to see it, though.

what i don’t like about being, more or less, introverted and having access to the internet is that i really have spent a lot of time on it over the years. i’ve come across many sites, learning about a variety of useful and (mostly) useless things. if i were to toot my own horn and talk about everything i knew before everyone else i knew caught wind about it, i’d be like some gaddamn fact hipster.
since then, due to a number of momentarily successful attempts at getting a life and simply not having enough time on my hands, i had relegated myself to going around various image sites usually full of meme-based humor (such as those in the i can haz cheeseburger network), or webcom. otherwise it’s webcomics or tumblr.
i’m caught in a strange place where i want to keep around what i find. i download this image (7,609 on my laptop so far). copy down that quote (i had about 70(?) pages worth saved on microsoft word on my computer). i favorite this video (oh and youtube’s limit in favorites is 3208. found out by experience maybe a few weeks ago). probably a good number don’t even get close to dropping my jaw or getting the tiniest hint of a chuckle from me. tumblr pretty much added to that. i usually click like on something if i plan on downloading the picture later, copying down the quote, or favoriting the video on youtube. it was easy enough when i wasn’t following a lot of people. i’ve got more than 10000 likes, with quotes i don’t want to forget and pictures and videos i want to share at some point or another without being a mcspammity spamspam. i’m very behind.
i’m feeling an urge to try and catch up with everything, but i know that if i do, i’d be taking on more than i can chew. i know i’m supposed to leave many of these behind sooner or later. most likely, in the long run, many of these sites will end, or everything i’ve saved in some form or another would be deleted. problem is, i can’t stop. in some place or another, on this laptop, i’m always holding on to something. 4 tabs open on internet explorer, 51 on chrome. not just on tumblr(though i do have 200 drafts saved - i’m not even sure why some of them are drafts). many of these i’m not even gonna be using. i’m feeling like some kind of e-hoarder, and i’m pretty sure i need to stop.
