I'm Victor, and so far, I'm 20. I'm made up of assorted opposites and in-betweens. This is where I think, where I chill, where I worry, where I speak, where I am. I've got no guarantee that I'll be interesting, but listen if you want to. Ask/tell me stuff here.

It’s been two weeks since we’ve gotten back, but I’ve finally gotten around to narrowing all the pictures I took into a fantastic pile of Eh, These Are Okay. Keep on reading if you want.

There’s still some pictures left that I might post sooner or later. Anything I took of the wedding was on little snippets of video - we’ll cross that bridge if I can construct it into a small video, along with any pictures. For those of you who didn’t read what my sister said (here and here, along with all the pictures she’s posted) about going around with two of our titas (one’s the mom of the bride of course) and our mom around Europe, it should go without saying that I’d like to go back and see them all again and know them a bit more. Anyway, read on to this list of specific stuff and vague stuff about things:

  • Any fear I ever had of planes was shattered by the sheer amount of flights we took. Took two to get from Berlin to Orly, France. Yes the airport is in a place called Orly. Ya rly. Thanks to these little tourist ticket things, we were able to go around Paris by train, stuck with our baggage for the five decreasingly rainy hours we were there. I know the city’s got its problems just like any other, but the beauty of it all was still there - even the train stations seemed to have their own personalities - each and every one.
  • We were able to catch the sunset when we got to Venice in the same day, and explored the streets, almost empty, save for a few drunken gaggles of twenty-somethings from elsewhere. Since we stayed at a place in the city, we got to see more of it the next day, and I saw many more sides to Venice, and I liked it there. The people were so nice that even the graffiti sometimes gave directions, haha. It’s not quite something that I could put into words, but if anything, I’d say being there was something like finding a new friend.
  • Getting to Rome pretty late, I can only assume we stumbled upon the city at a bad time. Everything I saw about its history and the art I loved(anything that looks into Greek mythology, really), but even the next day, it seemed the people in Rome were probably Italy’s closest counterpart to a New Yorker.
  • In whatever the little place was in Switzerland, we didn’t do much, but my tita’s summer house had an amazing view. We went to a not-so-exciting chocolate museum (only one room…), and went to the significantly more interesting store, where we got a few bricksworth of chocolate. I’m at the last bar of my share.
  • Back to Germany, aside from the goings-on at the wedding, we saw a little bit of the history in Potsdam, along with the daily life, since we stayed at an open apartment my cousin owns. In Berlin, apparently there’s a good amount of museums there, but we only had enough time to go to the Pergamon Museum, which housed artifacts from antiquity, the Middle East, and a collection of Islamic art.

One thing I should note is that while we were in Paris, we covered most of the bases when it came to seeing the landmarks, but my sister and I missed out on going to the Shakespeare and Company bookstore. The first one, when it was opened, was something of a literary haven for big names in writing, something its second and current incarnation continues.

Bed and breakfast in Venice. We’ll be spending the rest of the day walking around, then we’ll leave to be in Rome by midnight. I guess I’ll make a full post of all the pictures once we’re back in Germany, but I’ll be posting something when I can.
