There was a lab thingy today. We all got free goggles.
People with glasses got bigger ones.
My head is still too big.

Went to a Sweet 16 last night, and things I learned were:

My dad got new speakers. The mic on my laptop can’t record all of it because they’re 3 feet away from me.
I can feel the couch bouncing. Fuck.

Bringing in the new year was somewhat interesting for once (read: I wasn’t moping around about my eternal singledomness for once, as idiots and fools are wont to do). We’re back home, my sister’s knocked out and might punch me in the arm or something in the morning for taking this picture (I loooove you Camille).
Nonetheless, when I got back, I got into the habit of counting the little “firsts”, e.g. first song on my iPod I listen to this year on the way home, first time I sat in the back of the van this year, first time I’ll be sleeping in my bed this year, and so on. One new one was that I was feeling optimistic for once. Dunno if it’ll stick through, but in a few ways I’m starting to feel better about myself.
I really can’t say anything of what resolutions I’ve got for the next year, since the fun and odd things that happened and the stupid things I’ve done are moments I wouldn’t have expected. Per the occasional bit of wisdom my dad drops, most plans a person make tend to not fall through. Most obvious thing is to improve myself as a person, but to have that as a resolution is just silly. As humans, it’s a basic goal. Social beings that we are, we’re exposing ourselves to change, so of course, by not so much conscious effort, we’ll inevitably be different by the next year - non sum qualis eram, or “I am not as I once was” comes to mind…if anything, I guess I could read some more, and watch more films, just eating my cultural veggies. Maybe I’ll learn about the stars this year too. Sounds nice.
Only thing I know to do is to welcome the future with a pair of open arms and a pair of brass balls to take it on.

Fun Fact: There’s enough oil left over in cold leftover pizza that frying it on medium for a few minutes will get it hot again and, more importantly, crispy. My dad told me about this. This guy here has the interesting take on it of putting a tin foil cover over the pizza to keep in the moisture.
Also, I’m terrible, or at least really, and very much terribly inexperienced with cooking, so in the past I’ve ended up burning a few more slices than I should have (read: every single one before these).

FUCK WHY AM I NOT PANICKING ABOUT FINALS AS MUCH AS I SHOULD BE WHY AM I EATING SLOWLY INSTEAD OF STUDYING IN A HURRIED AND FRANTIC MANNER
Anyway.
First final within the next hour. I’ve done what I know to do, but I have no idea if I should have done more, or if I’ve done enough, and so on and so on. That I don’t care as much as I should is a more worrying realization than the fact that all four of my finals are within the next three days and I don’t have much time in between to study even more. But c’est la vie.
To all you with finals coming up, good luck! To all you high schoolers who just have winter break coming in the next few days unpreceded by stress, I say a fairly jealous yet well-meaning, Fuck you, you lucky younger bastards, enjoy that while it lasts.

Okay, so here’s the deal with the next two weeks, and why I may not post about anything except stressing out about finals until it’s over:

According to the freshmen, this looks junior/senior-year-oldish, meaning I could pass for a 22 year old, at most.

Haha, that’s just lovely.

My sister (@notcamille) and I decided to tag along with Geo (@gdizzle) chilling our butts off outside waiting for Best Buy to open at midnight. Did not get any special deals on these whatsoever, so after all the money that’s been yanked out of it in the last two weeks, my wallet is silently sobbing in agony. Then again, considering the DVDs were the last/only copies there, might be worth it. Then again, Childish Gambino. Worth it.

Lucky for me, I was able to finish the research paper, getting like 30 minutes of sleep. Aside from a one-page paper due Tuesday, I’ve got nothing else to do, so I’m feeling relaxed. That or I’m tired and slowly decaying into insanity/sleep.
In addition to the four books I got from the library yesterday, decided to borrow Blankets by Craig Thompson again for the nth time(finished reading it just this morning), along with Carl Sagan’s Contact. Fun fact, noting that Sagan graduated from Rahway Public High School (read: he lived in my town), another book of his called Cosmos was created with a partner TV series of the same name, and Contact was adapted into a film. Which I really wanna find now.
